I told Amy I wanted two things for our session - a scenic background and awesome backlight. Mission Accomplished. But first, let me back up. While visiting Joe's family this winter in Virginia, I knew I couldn't pass up the chance at another session with the lovely Amy of Amy Ellis Photography. Amy is incredibly, she's energetic, patient, and clearly loves what she does. If I could steal her away to second shoot with me, I would. She is an undiscovered treasure of Southwest Virginia who could truly blow up at any moment, she really is that good. This summer we had our first family session ever and we really focused on Colton. I loved that session but this time I wanted to focus on Joe and I. We've been together for 6 years, and it certainly hasn't always been easy. As we move into this new phase of our lives I wanted to focus a bit on us. Oh and if you couldn't tell, that guy of mine has slimmed down quite a bit, (60lbs!) so I really wanted to celebrate and remember us now. I can guarantee that if you go through your phone right now, you'll find three specific pictures of you and the one you love. A halloween pic (extra points for a couples costume), a throw back Thursday pic (extra points for wedding day), and finally a selfie. If you just got your phone and checked, stop. Put it down. There is life happening between your wedding and your 25th wedding anniversary, and it doesn't just include kids. Capture you guys also, you'll appreciate it someday, as will your children. So take out a tripod, set the timer, or give the camera to your over 12 year old, or hey, give me a shot :) But Please, do yourselves a favor, and make it about you two for a change. Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, Amy also took some killer headshots for me, because again, she's awesome. So please, do this. If not for yourselves, for your kids so they can look back one day and see you took time to do things for you and to persevere the memories of your love. Much Love,
